It depends a husky is more protective and a one person dog and a labrador is a more i love you and lets play. The labrador willl love you no matter what and is a people dog.
It depends on your life style, but I like huskys better.
Jdog J, I wish I had a a labrador husky.
Both breeds are great dogs in the right home. You need to take your time and research each breed talk to owners and breeders and then pick which one best suits your lifestyle. This is an importatnt decisions and shouldn’t be rushed.
I have two labs (one chocolate , one yellow) and they are the greatest dogs one can ask for… but depending on if you live in front of hills, you might want to go with a husky. It’s believed that huskies scare off wild animals because it looks like a wolf.
there’s no real answer to this. it depends on your life style and how much time and money you have.
I have 7 huskies and they require a good deal of time for exercise and grooming as well as a decent vet bill every time they go – and get groomed professionally. they need someone with a lot of time on their hands for training and reinforcing behavior..chewing..digging..escaping the yard..etc.
i also had a lab and she was more laid back and easy to take care of.
like i said..depends on you. do research
Neither is better… which is better suited for your lifestyle is the question.
Jessica the first poster is an idiot, plain and simple. LOL… Siberians and Malamutes for that matter have NO GUARDING instinct whatsoever, couple that with the fact that they dont bark to alert, and you have the WORST guard dog possible. LOL… they are also very very much an multi-person dog. (I have a purebred Malamute, my fiance’s brother came to walk him a few months ago, having never met him before or been to our new house…. he walked right into the basement, put the Mal on a leash, Mal licked his face and they went off together on a walk!.. NO guarding instincts)
the Lab has not much guarding instinct either…..
Difference is exercise and training! Lab is less energy than a siberian.. thats not to say they are low energy, but the lab was never bred to cart a sled 100 miles…. the siberian has BOUNDLESS energy, you need to run it at least 1 hour a day.
(I bike at 15mph with my Mal, 5 miles per day… he isnt even phased by the run. its just enough to release his energy and keep him sane!… lol we go further on the weekends tho)
Also, siberians eat less than Labs….. Labs have less hair to pick up.
Depending on where you live, Siberians may be too hot in the summer….. Im in Boston area so its cold in winter… and in summer .LOL.
So, Just do some research, but Id say Lab for you… unless youre an experienced owner, Siberians and Mals are notoriously tough to train, almost impossible to off leash train 100% and cannot sometimes be trusted with small animals (cats). They also howl and make “woo-woo” sounds instead of barking, which can alarm your neighbors.
(Consider a malamute? they are ALOT of dog, but they are more mellow than huskies…. think about it! )
First of all, neither would be my answer to which breed is better. I don’t think any one breed is better than another. It comes with knowledge and understanding of the breeds and what fits your lifestyle.
Now of the 2, mine would be the Lab. They aren’t nicknamed a Lap-ador for nothing
Huskies on the other hand, while they can be great dogs love to dig, run and are great at getting out of things.
They both require a lot of exercise, but personally a lab is easier to maintain.
Good Luck.
Compare the two.Siberians shed massive hair. Labs don’t have so much. Siberians are not good watch dogs. Labs are good watch dogs. Siberians need people or dogs around all the time. Labs are milder dogs and don’t need people or dogs around all the time. If your gone for long stretches of time the Lab is best. Siberians have a need to run. With the Lab the need isn’t so great. Siberians like to dig holes in your yard. The Lab seems to tolerate hotter climates also.
So take your pick. I do like the look of the Siberian. They are beautiful.
Out of those two, the Labrador. The Huskies like to hop fences and destroy your house if you leave them for long periods without entertainment. I’ve owned a Lab, and he was one of the best dogs i have ever known.
Both dogs are great, I would recommend trying to meet some dogs of those breeds and see how you like them. Also, Make sure that you research the breeders, meet the “Mom” and “Dad” of the pups, watch their behavior. Otherwise, you should be happy with your choice, either way
Well heres the thing, My brother got a lab mix the same time I got a husky mix. The key differences in personality are the lab is alot more aggressive but loves to kiss you and play. My husky/wolf boy is very energetic and loves to run and swim but less aggressive with pushing but when he is teething you will need to keep pigs ears or alot of bones around as he will need em. Same for the lab. They both are good breeds, But I love my husky I can send you a pic of him if you like just send email anytime, Mikebureizu@yahoo.com I got plenty of pics of both of them.
Labrador – Easy to train, but very common, nothing special if you take them for a walk.
Siberian Husky – Beautiful amazing dogs, and they don’t smell compared to other dogs.
My choice would be siberian, absoloutely amazing dogs, my cousin had one .
P.s , go for the brown + white ones, they are much cuter ! :]
Good luck
Oh P.s – The reason we couldn’t get a siberian is because they eat cats…
Alaskan Malamute look just like Siberians, but a lil cuter.

Labrador retriever
.
Excellent with children and adults
Less agressive as they grow old
Very playful and obedient
Siberian huskies are great dogs too, but I’ve found them to be mean as they get old. Both dogs shed a great deal. I’ve had experience with both and I prefer the retriever breed. I highly suggest a golden retriever or a yellow lab.
Both Breeds are very energetic and need lots of exercise.
Labs are overbred.
Huskies are best without cats
Huskies need more grooming
Labs are better with small kids
Both can be found at shelters, Its hard to pick a favorite out of the two.
But if you have or are planning to have kids I’d say a Labrador might be better, but I think both are great breeds.
Labs have a lot more health problems, they can get knee and hip problems and are commonly overweight.
I would get a Husky, because I like them more, but that’s just me.
Siberian Huskies are NOT protective dogs. Anyone who has done their research on the breed would know that. Siberian Huskies are great dogs good with everyone and other dogs. There are some problems though. Like: Prey drive meaning if yu did not raise the dog around your cat (if you have one) he/she would most likely think of it as dinner, can jump fences, digs, sometimes can be difficult to train, Oh and they do shed 1 to 2 times per year.Good qualities: They are very energetic, always very happy to please, loves to run, very good in cold weather, can do well with some heat as long as you have a shaded spot for them and a hard plastic kiddy pool. Please if you want a Siberian husky do as much research on the breed as you can before getting one. Here is a link for you to go read some info on the breed:http://www.akc.org/breeds/siberian_husky…
Labradors
I will admit I do not know allot about them other that I was bit by one when I was a child. I have met some nice ones and some not so nice ones, but that is not my decision to make on the breed. So here is a link to the AKC breed info.:http://www.akc.org/breeds/labrador_retri…
You can also look up other breed information on the akc.org too.I will say good luck and I hope find what you are looking for.

GET A LAB! You won’t regret it. Better yet, get a lab mix, so that it’ll have the temperament of a lab and also have its unique appearance that is different from the generic, all too common lab look. Also, mixes are more healthy (since the gene pool is more diverse).
There’s your answer.
haha jk.
LABS, I don’t know much about huskies, but I own a lab mix (with pitbull I think) and she is the sweetest little thing ever. Yes, for the first 5 to 10 months, she is going to be a frisky puppy with more energy than you can ever knock out of her. But at the same time, she doesn’t really know what’s right and what’s wrong at that age, so you have to teach her, and labs learn really quickly.
1. Labs learn quickly.
2. Labs are super cute.
3. Labs are friendly dogs that no one is afraid of, so you’ll feel more secure walking them in public.
4. Labs are children friendly.
5. Labs are adult friendly.
6. Labs are natural athletes with shorter fur, so they can run with you in the heat.
7. Labs LOVE tennis balls, so if you’re tired, just throw a tennis ball for them.
8. Labs love the water, so you can go to the beach and have fun with them.
9. Labs are trusting. They love strangers and you know they won’t ever bite people (of course you have to raise them right too).
10. Labs have these soft velvet ears that are floppy and just the right length.
Instead of being “keen” on a particular appearance, why don’t you research which breed would better fit your lifestyle. Both breeds are very energetic, and contrary to other replies both breeds are very friendly and outgoing…a Siberian is not a one person dog, they will love everyone that will show them the time of day (one of the MAJOR reasons this breed is NOT suited for guard dog!)
Labradors are easier to train, and Siberian Huskies aren’t exactly for the first time dog owner because they are the exact opposite when it comes to training ability. They aren’t stupid, in fact quite the opposite, but they have a very independent streak!
Both breeds shed a great deal, but the Siberian requires more grooming than the Labrador. Both will need a good exercise plan as well!
Please do the responsible thing and research the breeds before you decide which is better for your family and your life.
